Group organisers may be daunted by the prospect of organising a residential trip, but at Kench Hill we take much of the strain from you from booking coaches to guiding you through the process. The task is eased with careful forward planning. New group leaders should arrange a preliminary visit to the Centre. Involve other colleagues where possible – administrative staff and teaching assistants can take responsibility to collect consent forms, organise school grants and payments. This should be done at least 6 months, but ideally a year in advance – start the process as soon as your booking is confirmed by informing parents so they can start saving up. See the Planning a KenchHill Visit for an overview of the planning timetable.
The named group organiser will receive a comprehensive teacher’s guide direct by e-mail. All other information and forms are downloadable on this website. If you prefer a hard copy, please contact us directly. See What We Offer for the range of Activities and Day Trips from Kench Hill. These are the most popular, but we can discuss any other options and can tailor a visit to suit your individual needs. It may be possible to arrange a planning meeting with one of our staff at your school. You should read the Health and Safety Manual, particularly any risk assessments for the activities you have chosen.
To give you an idea you can see an example of a well-planned and organised school visit here (Exemplar planning with thanks to Liz Cooke and Grazebrook Primary School, LB Hackney).
You need to send us the KHV PROGRAMME FORM at least 6 weeks before your trip, once you have discussed and agreed this with the Head of Centre. In summer months many day trip venues and coach operators are very busy so give us as much notice as possible (up to a year in advance) so we can ensure your choice. An example of a typical week is shown below, but we can also plan thematic weeks around topics of your choice. Parents should return the KHM1 Consent form (also available in Turkish, below) to you several weeks before the trip so you can summarise the pupils’ dietary and other special needs information on the DIETARY SUMMARY FORM which must be sent to us a week before your visit. You also specify room allocations on this form.
A Kit list is available to give to parents before the trip.
