‘Kench Hill exceeded all our expectations!’
‘What an amazing place. The building itself is beautiful and caters for so many people. ..Gardens are beautiful too. 100% recommended for anything from a little get-together to a wedding reception.’

Kench Hill offers superior hostel accommodation with spacious bunk rooms plus several double & single bedrooms. Clean and cosy, it is ideal for residential courses or a relaxing retreat for families, teams and group celebrations, including wedding receptions. We welcome non-school groups to Kench Hill in holidays and weekends (from 2pm Friday to Sunday afternoon), with optional activities provided by our expert tutors.
The purpose-built Straw Hall is ideal for events with seating for 80 guests. It serves as a banqueting room, dance hall, yoga space or for choirs. Please note we are in a quiet rural location where sound travels a long way. To avoid disturbing neighbours there should be no noise outdoors after 11pm
We offer self-catered or catered visits for up to 55 people. A ground floor bedroom is available for visitors with limited mobility (see Access statement). In summer months there is also a large bell tent in the garden. Groups have use of our fully equipped kitchen with electric & gas oven, fridge, freezer + commercial dishwasher, plus gas BBQ for outdoor dining. We can supply organically-grown seasonal produce from our kitchen garden. Supermarkets in Tenterden are open until 10pm (4pm Sunday), with dining choices including fish & chips, Chinese, Indian, Turkish, plus pub food. Nightingales Farm Shop nearby specialises in fruit, juice and cider.
A range of flexible catering options can be provided to suit your budget- we offer healthy, nutritious meals using fresh local ingredients, many picked from our own garden. Young visitors are encouraged to eat salad, fruits and vegetables. We cater for all dietary needs including vegan, halal, gluten-free (with prior notice).
